Reassembly Begins!
It's been too long. Lots of other
projects going on around here and the bike has been collecting cobwebs. :(
I was having a bad day yesterday and
exiled myself to the garage to clear my head. I dusted off the work
desk and got back to it. In a short time, I was in a good mood
again. I finished cleaning the lower case and started putting things
back together.
I successfully reassembled
the major parts and hopefully all the parts of the case internals.
The trans is shifting and after a bit, I figured out where neutral
was. Rubber seals were replaced with new except for the shift
drum. The shift drum calls for the same seal as the shifter, but the
parts diagram does not show a seal on the shifter. I put out and
inquiry on this matter and Paul from the VJMC mailing list confirmed my
thoughts that it was the same seal and the diagram was missing it. I
will have to order another one because the seal kit does not have 2.
No bother, I lost a knock pin for the front of the case and have to order
that as well before I can seal the case back up.
I got my pin and some
missing nuts and finally got the case back together. It's November
now and the garage is like hell froze over. Nothing like cold metal
to chill your hands. I'm cleaning the jug now. ;)
2006, March 9th.
Weather is finally starting to break and the snow has melted. Tulips
are coming up and the garage is getting warmer.
