With the oil filter off, I now have new found motivation to run through the rest of the case at full speed.

Pulled off oil pump and clutch housing.  The oil pump and filter screen were very clean.

Now that I'm thinking about splitting the case, I realized I haven't taken the pistons off, so I did that.

Checking to see if I'm ready to split the case, I realized that I still have the alternator on.  Great...  Pulling it sucked.  I was cranking it with one hand and holding the puller with the other when the thing just popped off with a bang.  Scared the crap out of me.  After checking for blood coming from anywhere, I took a little break.

I honestly think I'm ready, so let's turn it over and take out the bolts.

Ewe... Grime... I hit all the nuts/bolts with liquid wrench and with a screw driver in one hand and the vacuum in the other, I started scraping away the yuck and dirt.

Carefully, I got it apart.  Cool, ma, look at all the gears and stuff.

All of this brings me to a stopping point.  Why?  Because I can't figure out how to get the darn shift cam out.

After a couple folks pointing out that there is a bolt holding the shift cam in place on the top of the case, I flipped it over and sure enough, I had forgotten to take that bolt out.  Is this laugh number 3 or 4?  Who's counting?

So the case is completely empty and I'm giving it a little soak in some degreaser and will power wash it and see how clean I can get it before moving on to polishing it.
